SDP COVID-19 BASIC HEALTH & SAFETY POLICIES & PROCEDURES 2020
Expect some delays at the beginning of this process as everyone gets used to the new protocols

- Screening must be done within 2 hours of your scheduled time, prior to attending class EACH day. If you show ANY of the symptoms listed, please DO NOT enter our studio.
Entering & Exiting the Building:
- Do not arrive earlier than 5 minutes before your scheduled class time.
- All persons are required to wear a mask upon entering & exiting the boot room/lobby.
- One person (or family) in the ’boot room’ at a time. The boot racks will be closed in accordance with AHS guidelines.
- Students are required to sanitize their hands at the sanitizer station located at the front entrance.
- To maintain social distancing, students should stand on the floor markers in the lobby area until they are called into class.
- Students should arrive ready to dance, place their “outerwear” shoes and clothing in their own bag or plastic bin, and place them on designated space provided in the dance studio upon entering the classroom.
- Parents picking up after class MUST be on time. Students will exit the building, socially distanced, immediately after class.
Scheduling of Classes:
- Classes have been bookended with an approximate ten minute break on either side to allow for traffic flow, and ensure no contact between additional groups of children.
- All absences should be reported to SDP by email
Washrooms and Change rooms:
- Students are encouraged to use the washroom at home to minimize washroom use at the studio.
- Washrooms will be sanitized at the end of each class
- Change rooms will be closed in accordance with AHS guidelines. Washrooms should be used for bathroom use only.
Lobby:
- The parent waiting area will be closed to parents and siblings in accordance with AHS guidelines. No seating will be available.
- Parents of children 5 years & younger are required to walk their child into the lobby and stand with them on the on their socially distanced floor marker until class begins. One adult per dancer please. *More details on drop off and pick up will be made available to you closer to our start date
- Parents of dancers age 6 and up may walk their child to the front doors of the building before returning to their vehicles for the duration of class.
- AHS precaution and prevention posters are clearly visible and displayed around the studio as reminders for physical distancing and hygiene protocols
- No food will be permitted in the building in accordance with AHS guidelines
- For age 8 and up-labelled and filled water bottles may be brought into the studio. Our water fountain will be closed.
Classroom Expectations:
- Student’s temperature will be taken prior to starting class.
- Students dance in their own space, (6 feet square), based on visible floor markers. Barres will be marked for use every 6 feet
- Dance steps that “travel” will be executed around the perimeter of the room with social distancing in place
- Masks, while dancing, are optional at this time.
- Barres, door handles, bathrooms, designated spots for dancers personal items, and other high touch surface areas will be sanitized between each class
- Floors will be sanitized at the end of each night
Instructors:
- Are required to follow all AHS guidelines
- Will wear a wear a mask or face shield while instructing
- May enter all dance spaces while wearing a mask to assist or aid students in an emergency.
- Will wash/sanitize hands frequently
- Will have access to hand sanitizer and basic PPE, (gloves and masks) at all times
